A privately owned Brazilian multinational, IBOPE is one of the largest and most established market research companies in Latin America, with more than 3,500 personnel serving more than 1,300 clients. Since its foundation 70 years ago, it has been providing knowledge and insight across a wide range of issues, spanning media, public opinion, voting patterns and market attitudes and behavior. Widely recognized as a brand name, IBOPE appears in dictionaries in Brazil and is a synonym for search, audience and prestige. It is the only Latin American company to appear in the US list of the top 25 global research organizations (Honomichl Top 25 Global Research Organizations).

Its primary investor is WPP, the world’s largest communications services group, employing more than 140,000 people across more than 2,400 offices in 107 countries.

IBOPE Group is composed of three major businesses: IBOPE Media, IBOPE Inteligência and IBOPE Educação, in addition to various strategic partnerships.

IBOPE Media offers a broad product line focused on media research, advertising investment and consumption habits.

IBOPE Inteligência provides customized solutions for market, behavior, brand, public opinion and internet research, helping organizations to develop strategy, facilitating decision making and driving innovation.

IBOPE Educação is in the business of executive education, training professionals in strategic decision making. In terms of academic content, the program integrates current and exclusive information from the Group in order to maximize the potential of individuals to contribute to achieving results for their company.

Strategic partnerships

IBOPE also has major stakes in two companies: IBOPE Nielsen Online and Millward Brown Brazil.  IBOPE Nielsen Online is a joint venture between IBOPE Media and Nielsen, a US company with operations in the areas of information and media, detailing the behavior of digital media users. Millward Brown Brazil is a partnership between IBOPE, Millward Brown, Inc. and WPP Group, the world leader in advertising, brand and marketing. Millward Brown Brazil provides customized research focused on building and maintaining strong brands.

Ethical principles

IBOPE expresses its credibility, ethics and honesty through practices that regulate research in Brazil and abroad. IBOPE research complies with the ESOMAR code of self-regulation and ethics - The World Association of Research Professionals – as well as with the code of ethics of Associação Brasileira de Empresas de Pesquisa (Brazilian Association of Research Companies) otherwise known as ABEP.

Instituto Paulo Montenegro

In honor of Paulo de Tarso Montenegro, one of the founders of IBOPE, Instituto Paulo Montenegro was created in 2000 as a non-for-profit organization that develops and runs educational projects, using the knowledge gathered by IBOPE over 70 years of research. Its two programs - Nossa Escola Pesquisa Sua Opinião (Nepso) and Indicador de Alfabetismo Funcional (Inaf) are developed in partnership with the NGO Ação Educativa, one of the most respected education entities in Brazil.
