Meet the Team
Márcia Cavallari
Márcia Cavallari serves as the CEO of IBOPE Inteligência, the US branch of IBOPE Inteligência.
Before landing the top spot at IBOPE Inteligência, Márcia spent 29 years with IBOPE in a variety of positions including planning manager, public opinion research area director, statistic department director, and account management & planning executive director.
She also plays a pivotal role in top industry organizations. She currently serves as a member of the Brazilian Society of Market Research (SBPM - Sociedade Brasileira de Pesquisa de Mercado), a counsel member of the Public Opinion Studies Center at the University of Campinas (CESOP-UNICAMP) and the electoral research director of the Brazilian Association of Research Companies (ABEP- Associação Brasileira de Empresas de Pesquisa).
Márcia has a bachelor’s degree in statistics from the University of São Paulo in Brazil, and earned a master’s degree in political science and public opinion research from the University of Connecticut.
Kjell de Orr
Kjell de Orr joined Inteligência as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in the summer of 2010, and continues in that role with IBOPE Inteligência. In addition, he serves as the IBOPE Cono Norte Manager.
Prior to joining IBOPE’s team in 2010, Kjell served as a Managing Partner with Lewers Market Research, a full service market research company in Australia. Additionally, he also led Ellipsa International, a Paris based management consultancy, as a Partner and CEO. Kjell has more than 15 years of experience leading international research firms, including senior board and executive positions at Cognicient Data Managemnent Solutions, Research International, GfK Martin Hamblin (UK & USA) and Ipsos.
Kjell has also served as a CEO of the European subsidiary of e-Rewards, a role he assumed in 2007. Prior to joining e-Rewards, he was Senior Partner at Box Exchange, the Innovation and Strategy Consultancy at the London School of Economics; Chairman at MarketEvolution, the media consultancy in London Soho; and Chairman of Strategir UK, the French-based retail and luxury goods MR specialists. Kjell has served as interim joint CEO of Ipsos Interactive Services Europe. Additionally, he served as Chairman and Managing Director of GfK Martin Hamblin, the UK- and USA-based Healthcare and Custom Research specialists. While there, Kjell held global board roles on both the GfK Healthcare and the GfK Custom Research boards.
During his 12 years at Research International, he was a UK Board Member and founding MD of the Technology practice (IT, Telco, Automotive and New Media), and Director of Global Strategic Accounts and Business Developments.
Kjell earned Masters of Business Administration in both Finance and Marketing from Uppsala/Orebro University in Sweden.
Julie Knox
Julie is a Research Director at IBOPE Inteligência, with expertise in the design, build and use of marketing research intelligence and insights.
Julie has over 18 years of market research experience, starting her career at Research International, where she worked out of the London and New York offices. At RI she gained a solid grounding in research methods across a variety of sectors and research topics before specializing in technology and communications. She has since divided her career between the UK and the US, building up a wealth of experience across the two markets. She has worked on the client side, both as an in-house researcher (at Morgan Stanley, New York) and as an external consultant (at PwC, London). She has also worked on the agency side, with Jigsaw Research, a boutique agency headquartered in London (again in both internal researcher and external consultant roles).
Julie is a true research hybrid, working equally comfortably and with equal expertise across both qualitative and quantitative approaches. She has a strong background in business-to-business research and is comfortable speaking to professionals at all levels, from owner managers of SMEs to board level respondents in large corporates and senior government stakeholders. In the last few years she has become increasingly involved in political and social research, with primary clients across a variety of government departments, regulatory bodies and agencies in the UK.
She is not afraid of tackling challenging research briefs and regularly manages large scale, multi-discipline projects that require careful sampling and published reports. She has run several segmentation studies, on behalf of government departments as well as private sector clients, through which she has become fully versed in the use of behaviour change theory as a framework for research design and analysis.
Julie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from Cambridge University in the UK.
Monica West
Monica is Vice President of Business Development at IBOPE Inteligência, with responsibility for both the Miami office and our Cono Norte collaboration.
Monica has over 15 years of experience in business development and management. She has focused her career in the business center industry, working in both Managerial and Consultancy positions for various centers for Right Space Management in Houston, Texas and Florida. During this time, Monica forged strong client relationships with companies throughout the world, and across various industries. She continues to collaborate with this extended network of contacts today.
Monica is heavily involved in the Miami community, participating in the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, the Beacon Council and the Brazilian American Chamber of Commerce.
Monica is fluent in Portuguese.
She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration focusing on International Studies from the University of St. Thomas.
Muriel Palumbo
Muriel is Manager of the Utica, NY branch of IBOPE Inteligência and the Director of Finance and Human Resources.
In this role Muriel is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. She maintains tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, yearend audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. She also must be aware of local, state and federal employment guidelines, manage payroll issues, maintain employee records, complete and record insurance and other programs offered to employees and be able to assist employees in understanding and evaluating the participation in these programs.
Muriel has over a dozen years of experience in accounting and human resources. She has worked with companies such as Outback Steakhouse and Cox Enterprises.
Muriel received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of South Florida.
Rebecca Wittman
As V.P. of Project Management/Operations, Rebecca is responsible for all projects as they move through the Utica branch of IBOPE Inteligência. With nearly 20 years of experience at the company, Rebecca has managed public opinion research for fortune 100 companies, major media outlets, political campaigns, government and advocacy groups, along with a host of special elite surveys in hard-to-reach markets worldwide.
Rebecca oversees a team of writers and manages project flow and budgets within the editorial department, and maintains a calendar of project traffic for the call center and online.
Rebecca is an expert in data analysis and she assists in meeting client goals through development of strategic plans specific to each client.Rebecca is a graduate of the SUNY Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in English.
Marc Penz
With 11 years of experience, Marc is the Director of Survey Operations, and is responsible for managing the technical aspect of all web-based and telephone surveys.
Marc also compiles sample lists from vendors and in-house databases for use in online and telephone surveys, and he is responsible for data output post fieldwork, including working with SPSS and the CATI system.
Marc had a personal hand in building IBOPE Inteligência’s call center from the ground up, and has had a hand in nearly every online survey the company has produced. Marc provides support to our many network servers, and he often advises on upgrades to equipment, technology and best practices.
Marc is a graduate of Mohawk Valley Community College with an AS in business management.
Zeljka Buturovic
Zeljka is Senior Researcher at IBOPE Zogby International’s Washington, DC office.
Zeljka joined IBOPE Zogby International in 2008, bringing a strong background in mathematics and mathematical statistics, and experience in various advanced statistical techniques, such as various methods for multivariate analyses, Bayesian statistics and resampling. She has since worked at the design and analytic stages of a number of government and business projects, ranging from parliamentary seat allotment to market segmentation.
Prior to joining IBOPE Zogby International, Zeljka worked as adjunct instructor at Barnard College, where she developed and taught several psychology and statistics courses, and as a full-time staff researcher at Columbia University. Zeljka has published articles on public opinion, American politics, political psychology and economics in a number of popular and academic venues.
Zeljka earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Statistics from Carnegie Mellon University, a Masters degree in Statistics from Harvard University and a PhD in Psychology from Columbia University in New York.
Daniel DeVries
As Communications and Media Manager, Daniel is responsible for all press materials generated by IBOPE Inteligência, as well as assisting clients with outbound communication efforts.
As a reporter for nearly six years, Daniel brings a strong background in journalism to his role. Daniel is responsible for the company’s web and social media presence, and also handles public appearances and interviews, along with requests for data and general inquires from the public.
Daniel joined IBOPE Inteligência in 2007 as a writer/analyst, helping clients to construct surveys and presentation materials on a variety of topics ranging from political campaigns and advocacy to internal research for corporate interests.
Daniel earned a Bachelor of Arts at SUNY Plattsburgh with a concentration in Journalism.
