Newt on the Rise
In our latest IBOPE Zogby interactive poll, Newt Gingrich has taken a huge leap ahead of his Republican primary opponents. Following Rick Perry’s continued downfall, and Herman Cain’s stumbles, including bad interviews and sexual harassment allegations, the conservatives are looking for someone, and that someone now is Newt Gingrich. Mitt Romney, lost a few points, and is now in third among Republican primary voters, but continues to pull in numbers in the teens. One good sign for Romney, our polling shows Republican primary voters continue to believe Romney will be the Republican nominee.
In the same poll, President Obama’s approval was on the rise to 44%, his best showing in a while. However, he is in a dead heat with Romney and Gingrich in an election match up.
As we continue to move closer to the January primary season, all that can be said is that Romney continues to hang in there, but no one is very excited about voting for him, and the excitement towards a candidate seems to change with the wind, and today that wind is in favor of Gingrich.
Time is with Gingrich now, but a lot can happen in six weeks, and all eyes will be on Iowa. If Romney has a strong showing in Iowa, wins New Hampshire, strong in South Carolina and Florida, he can win. If he is third or lower in all of the first primaries, it will be an even more interesting (and possibly entertaining) campaign season.
All I can say is hold on, it’s going to be a bumpy ride, and not just through the Republican primary. If gas prices reach record highs as predicted this Spring, and the economy continues to struggle and job creation lags, President Obama will have an even more disgruntled electorate, and a tougher time to convince voters to reelect him, even if the Republicans can’t figure out who to nominate or nominate a less than spectacular candidate.

Gingrich wisely had kept quiet and let his GOP opponents make fools of each other and themselves. That has led to him winning the right to drive the GOP clown bus this week. He has so much garbage sticking to him, though, he could never be electable - he has not had the full spotlight yet so its still not in America's face yet. They have not yet taken a good whiff of Gingrich. Of all the GOP candidates, Huntsman is the most capable, intelligent and pragmatic (which eliminates him from getting the GOP nomination). Republicans seem to hate Mitt Romney - his is too modern, not dumb or folksy enough, and he has been pro-universal-healthcare. He may end up with the nod. Republican voters will have nervous breakdowns - but they will be self-induced. Ron Paul has a small following and he speaks honestly to HIS base. He will never get the GOP nod - and if he had any backbone, he would run in 2012 as an independent or a liberatarian. In the final analysis, President Obama is facing no serious competition in 2012. I hope the GOP does not completely humiliate themselves this time around.... ala Palin/McCain. TGIF

I opine that to get the credit loans from banks you should have a firm reason. However, one time I have received a short term loan, just because I wanted to buy a bike.

New Gingrich will never win because he is the very thing we want to keep OUT of office. He is all talk with NO ACTION unless the talk benefits him financially in some way, shape, or form. I'm sick of ALL POLITICIANS! They ALL need to go!

I'd rather vote for Kermit the Frog instead of clowns like Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney! If either of them get the republican party nod then I'm going to throw away my vote to Ron Paul. Can't hurt, he won't get elected either, but at least Obama won't have it!

I think it's beautiful, because it arrange a very academic-focussed attitude. Preserving the honestness of the academic system seems to be a priority, although honestly exclude repaid ads for such a service seems a weak response. Newt Gingrich is surging because the Republican field is so thoroughly distasteful to the GOP base. Thus far, Romney has underwhelmed the Tea Party. Perry flamed out in a blaze of glory pockmarked by his uncanny impression of a more brusque and less facile Texan than George W. Bush. Cain flared out when his wife pulled the plug on his presidential campaign that had become more littered with wronged women than Clinton's in 1992. Thus, Newt is the default option for now, perhaps, the least desirable, but the most acceptable of a flawed lot.

I see "DON, The TROLL' has visited the blog and left venomous little droppings of his wit. Predictably, he had nothing to say. Since Gingrich and Romney have policy positions very close, perhaps a different measure is needed to select your choice of candidate. How about which one would you want to listen to give the State of the Union message for the next 4 years, news conferences, interviews, etc. With Gingrich, I think you would qualify for College Credits in American History by the time 4 years are up. : )

Ah...a real live Gingrich fan sprouts from the mushroom patch! Excellent. John, respectively, don't you think that Gingrich's baggage (his horrible treatment of his first two wives, his exit from Congress under ethics investigation, etc) might make him a weaker nominee than Mitt Romney? Lets face it - Romney plans to win and he will NOT hold back against Gingrich (who is such an obese target who has provided Romney plenty of ammo).. Well, what do ya think?

VOTERS BEWARE! A vote for Newt and/or a third party candidacy for Newt will guarantee a second term for President Obama! Just as Ross Perot caused a lock for President Clinton, and Timothy Cahill allowed Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick to waltz back into another term! Newt will get his stipend later! We shall see what the future holds for Mr. Cahill! Perhaps a six figure salary for life on the Casino commission? Regardless of the payouts. In the future I will withhold any future support or votes for any such duplicitous candidate or issues they support !
