on KOREA | This comprehensive study was done by Zogby International, the premiere public opinion research firm acclaimed for its accuracy.
Essential information for government officials, investors, and scholars, this Korean report is available in hard copy or online version. - A majority of U.S. respondents say they do not follow events in South Korea. A plurality (43% average) relies on television or radio news as their sources of information, while another 25% get information about Korea from newspapers.
Two-thirds of French respondents do not follow events in South Korea. Three in ten do. A plurality (39%) relies on television or radio news as their sources of information, while another 22% get information about Korea from newspapers. When offered a choice, British respondents say they would prefer to learn more about the culture of Korea (24%), as well as travel and tourism (20%), and the country's history (18%). A majority of respondents in Germany (55%) say they do not follow events in South Korea. A plurality (41%) relies on television or radio news as their sources of information, while another 25% get information about Korea from newspapers. Methodology
Zogby International conducted interviews of 1,006 adults chosen at random in the United States. All calls were made from Zogby International headquarters in Utica, N.Y., from Thursday, August 9, to Wednesday, August 15, 2001. The margin of error is +/- 3%.
In addition, Zogby International polled 799 individuals in France, 801 in Germany, 851 in Japan and 802 in the United Kingdom. The margin of error is +/- 3.6% for these nations. Slight weights were added to region, age and gender to more accurately reflect the national population. Margins of error are higher in sub-groups. *Note: Percentages have been rounded to the nearest number and might not total 100.
