Five Nation Arab Media Survey, July 2001
A fascinating survey of television viewing and newspaper readership habits of residents in 5 Arab countries: UAE, Lebanon, Egypt, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.
Highlights from the survey:
- Television saturation is quite high (with the exception on Egypt). Sixty percent of all the households included in the survey have more than one television.
- Prime viewing hours in all countries are between 17:00 and 21:00 GMT. An average of over 70% watch television at least one hour a day, during this time frame
- During the same time frame, over one-third watch between 1 and 3 hours and an additional one-third watch television between 3 to 5 hours in the three Gulf Countries covered in our survey.
- In four of the countries surveyed, 14:00 to 17:00 GMT is the next best time slot with an average of 45% watching over one hour per day.
